The Heart of St. Christopher Academy
A Legacy of Learning: Our History
A Foundation of Faith and Vision
Our story began on February 25, 1955, when Msgr. Pacifico B. Araullo, then Vicar of the Diocese of Cabanatuan, recognized a vital need for local education. At the time, the existing Licab High School offered only two years of secondary schooling. Driven by a mission to provide a full high school experience, Msgr. Araullo acquired the institution and established St. Christopher Rural High School on its current site.
The land itself holds deep familial roots; it was provided by Msgr. Araullo’s uncle, Feliciano Ayroso, a respected educator in Licab. In those early years, the school consisted of a single two-story building surrounded by wide, open spaces—a canvas where we began nurturing the intellectual, physical, and spiritual growth of our very first students.
Honoring a Legacy of Advocacy
Following the passing of Msgr. Araullo in December 1980, the torch of leadership was passed to his niece, Ms. Myrna G. Ilagan. As the granddaughter of Feliciano Ayroso, Ms. Ilagan viewed the school not just as an institution, but as a sacred family advocacy.Under her guidance, the academy underwent a period of significant transformation.
She focused on creating a safer and more vibrant environment by:
-
Constructing new classroom buildings and a secure perimeter fence.
-
Renovating the school stage and beautifying the grounds to inspire student life.
-
Expanding our academic reach by establishing the St. Christopher Learning Center, which eventually grew into our Elementary Department.
With the addition of the elementary levels, we officially embraced our current name: St. Christopher Academy of Nueva Ecija, Inc.
Modernizing for a Global Future
As the world changed, so did SCANE. We have remained steadfast in our commitment to "Patuloy na Pag-unlad" (Continuous Progress) by modernizing our facilities to meet the demands of the 21st century.
To better serve our students, we have:
-
Expanded our Library: Providing a wealth of resources and reference materials to spark curiosity.
-
Integrated Technology: Building a Multi-Media Center equipped with the latest computers and digital tools to ensure our students are tech-savvy and globally competitive.
-
Prioritized Well-being: Installing permanent security gates and enhancing sanitation facilities to ensure a safe, healthy environment for every child.
Our Promise Today
Today, we remain guided by the original aspirations of Msgr. Araullo and Feliciano Ayroso. Our doors are open to the youth of Licab, including the marginalized sectors, ensuring that quality education is accessible to all. At SCANE, we don't just teach; we prepare responsible individuals and future leaders who are ready to excel in their chosen fields and serve their country with pride.
The Heart of Our Academy
Guided by faith and educational excellence, our leadership team ensures St. Christopher Academy remains a beacon of learning in Nueva Ecija. We are dedicated to the holistic growth of every student under our care.
